Effective Home Remedies for Gas

Effective Home Remedies for Gas

According to health experts, occasional gas and bloating do not cause any serious health problems. In fact, they may pass on their own. Health experts state that every person experiences gas and passes it at least 12 times a day. However, some people can have excessive gas. It can result in intense abdominal pain. While you can't stop gas and bloating completely, you can use several home cures for gas. These home remedies can help reduce the severity and frequency of the problem. Let us tell you about four best home remedies for gas.
Fennel - For centuries, healers in China have used fennel as an effective cure for gas. In fact, fennel was also a popular digestive aid in Medieval Europe. In the past, many studies, researches and dieticians have recommended fennel to be an effective cure for gas. Fennel works as a preventative and treatment for excessive gas.
Fennel tea is one of the best home cures for gas. You can use 2 to 3 tablespoons of crushed fennel seeds in just 1 cup boiling water. You need to heat this mix for 10 minutes and strain out the seeds. You should drink fennel tea just before your meals. This will provide best results. Drinking fennel tea every day can also prevent chronic flatulence.
Peppermint Tea - Peppermint is one of the most popular herbal digestive aids. It soothes your bowels and intestines to stop gas and bloating. Peppermint has antispasmodic properties. Thus, it improves your digestion process. You can make peppermint tea with 2 tablespoons of dried peppermint leaves in 1 cup of boiling water. Heat this mix for about 15 minutes and then strain out the herbs. You can also use honey to sweeten peppermint tea. You can drink it immediately after your meals or when you experience gas.
Baking Soda - Baking soda can easily neutralize stomach acid and provide some relief from gas and bloating. Many health experts and dieticians consider baking soda to be one of the most effective home cures for gas. In fact, almost every gas medication contains baking soda to neutralize stomach acid.
You can stir 1 tablespoon of baking soda in 1 glass of water. You can drink it whenever you experience gas pains. In extremely rare cases, baking soda can explode in your stomach and tear your stomach's lining. Thus, it is recommended that you add around 4 to 5 drops of lemon juice before drinking this mix. It will neutralize the effect.
Chamomile Tea - Chamomile is a tension-easing herb. It can also increase bile flow and dispel gas. Chamomile tea can effectively improve your digestion. This herb contains flavonoids. They can easily relax your intestinal muscles and decrease spasms. You can use chamomile in the tea form after your meals. You should use 1 tablespoon of dried chamomile flowers in just 1 cup of boiling water. Heat the mix for 10 minutes and sweeten it with honey. You should drink it hot. You should drink 4 cups of chamomile tea everyday. However, if you are allergic to ragweed, you should avoid chamomile.
There are many other home cures for gas. However, these are the simplest ones and don't cause any side effects. You can use these remedies to get some relief from gas, bloating and flatulence.

What Should I Eat?

It helps to know that a food or drink is acidifying or alkalizing by the way it responds inside the body, not outside. For example: a lemon is very acidic outside the body, but when it enters the body and is digested, it leaves behind an alkaline byproduct and becomes strongly alkalizing in your body. Online, there are disagreements among the various lists of alkaline vs. acidic foods... here's how we decide. There are some obvious choices, for example most animal proteins are acidifying, and almost all vegetables are alkaline. Fruits seem to be where everyone loses focus... you see, not all fruit is alkaline in the body. Why the disagreement? It's all about sugar! The fruits with the highest sugar content tend towards mild acidity in the body. Sugar is acid! Period! That being said, we promote most fruits as "smart acids." These are good-for-you acids that should be included in your acid ratios. OK... off my soapbox... moving on!
For best balance and nutrition, your daily dietary intake involves choosing no more than 30% acidic foods. This provides for proper protein and smart acid choices, like fruits, nuts, certain grains, and seeds that produce acidity in your body. Most animal proteins are acidic when digested, as are dairy proteins. Items like salmon, lean cuts of beef and lean pork cuts can be wise acids when consumed infrequently and in smaller portions than the average American chomps down. Remember, I said that almost all veggies are alkaline? Not cooked potatoes! These are acidic, as well as many grains like wheat, white rice, and millet.
Remember that many fruits have higher sugar amounts, and those fruits have varying levels of acids they leave behind. Some fruits are only mildly acidifying, like the strawberries on this list. The rest of these, especially the pineapple and oranges, leave fairly strong acids when digested. Say it with me... sugar means acid! Here's where we really start getting acidic: Soda, of all types, is horrible for your health! This devil water is majorly acidic and full of chemicals and preservatives that promise to ruin your health eventually. I, along with other researchers and clinicians, believe soda to be the number one reason that diabetes is so out of control in our country and now reaching across the world! Soda pop has a pH value of around 2.5... Did you know that battery acid is measured as a 1 pH?
So that soda you gulped down with lunch is 1 ½ points away from battery acid... Nice, huh? It takes 32 glasses of at least a 7.0 pH water to buffer the acids in one can of Soda. Let that soak in for a second. 32 glasses. Run... don't walk away from that next soft drink... soda is slowly robbing your good health. The rest of the list pales in comparison, but should be minimized or avoided if great health through pH balance is what you're seeking
We've established the 30% acidic part of the ratio... let's talk about that important 70% alkaline part. Make no mistake, vegetables rock the alkalinity! Most vegetables are strongly alkalizing in your body, especially the green ones. In addition to this, vegetables contain amazing quantities of vitamins, minerals, and phyto-nutrients so important to your health. Veggies of all types should make up the biggest portion of your plate every time you eat a meal.
Fruits on the alkaline side of the fence include lemons, limes, and tomatoes. I know... it seems so counter-intuitive, doesn't it. It's all about the sugar! These fruits are very low sugar, therefore when metabolized produce a great amount of alkalinity in your body. I was really happy to learn this... as tomatoes are my favorite!!! Yumm!!! Some of my favorite alkalizing items: apple cider vinegar, particularly when organically produced, is a big alkalizer! So are Celtic Sea Salts and most spices. Almonds are another great choice as an alkaline snack food.
I've shared how unhealthy soft drinks are... let's talk about healthy alkaline beverages. Of course, when looking at the best overall solution... a clean source of fully mineralized water is tops! Adding concentrated mineral drops is the answer to the alkaline mineral water question. Herbal teas and fresh veggie juices are outstanding alkaline choices, too, and almond milk can save the day when you're craving a dairy-type experience... but want to avoid the acid.
